At one London Tech Week event, three Australian tech entrepreneurs who have based their companies in Britain explained why they had chosen not to start, or stay, Down Under.
The main draw seemed to be the larger size or broader opportunities in the British market. Another advantage was the bigger pool of tech talent, but which comes without the high salaries and frequent turnover of Silicon Valley.
The participants also praised the capital gains tax relief Britain offered to investors and also to employees with share options.
“Australia is only just starting to move in that direction,” said Ian O’Rourke, CEO of digital search-marketing data consultancy Adthena.
