Welcome to our inaugural ‘Meet the Team’ blog where we’ll be introducing you to some of our fantastic people from across the Adthena business.

First up, we’d like you to meet Sharon Scortis, our new Global VP of People. Sharon leads the People team at Adthena and joined in August 2021. She’s enjoyed a successful HR and consulting career spanning more than 20 years in leadership roles. Having traveled extensively during her career, she has a true appreciation of diverse cultures and how great things are achieved when you love where you work.

Why did you decide to join Adthena?

It was the opportunity. I love the ‘build journey’ and it was particularly appealing to come into an organization with a CEO and an executive team who see people and culture as game-changers for growth and success. Adthena already had great material available to work with and springboard from so it was absolutely the opportunity for me.

Tell us about your role on the Executive Leadership Team, what does this entail and how do you work with the board?

I’m a part of an executive team that very much thrives on cohesive decision making and our people sit firmly at the front and center of that which is a breath of fresh air for me.  We also partner and report very regularly with the board and it’s very inspiring to be able to have a close working connection with such credible and seasoned business leaders.

What do you love most about what you do?

I love ideating, and bringing solutions to company problems based on my previous commercial experience. We need to innovate and deliver, but we also need to apply empathy and pragmatism to everything that we do. And I think that combination is what I love about my job, bringing empathy and a real-world perspective to solve these kinds of problems.

What are you most excited about implementing at Adthena?

I’m excited about creating a strong culture of learning and growth but recognize that we need to strengthen the foundations to enable us to scale and grow, a bit like building the foundations of a house before we put the roof on and hang the curtains!  Building individual and manager excellence are my top immediate priorities coming into the business.

How do you measure success in your role?

There are many ways for us to measure success around people, such as employee engagement metrics through Employee Net Promoter Scores (eNPS), levels of attrition, and insights into our demographics and diversity.

“We are also able to measure success in other ways such as internal mobility, career progression, and sustained high performance.  But overall, driving personal success for every person will enable collective success for us and move us forward as a company.”

As Adthenians we live by four values, which one resonates with you the most and why?

It’s ‘Getting Shit Done’ for me. This value is about walking the talk and, whilst I love ideating, the hard bit is about bringing those ideas to the table and turning them into tangible outcomes, which are in turn going to move us forward quickly. That resonates for me in terms of where we are at as a business right now.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?

I’ve got two sons and I spend a lot of time ferrying around football matches and all that good stuff that we have to do. I love spending time walking my dog, who is basically my third son! I’m also learning to play golf, which I never thought I would because I’ve always been more into things like skiing, fast-paced activities, but decided to give it a go, and actually, I’m loving it.

Tell us a surprising or a fun fact about you.

I love to ski, but my older son, who is a real kind of daredevil, managed to convince me to ski off a mountain parascending. So I think that’s probably something that I never thought I would do, but I was completely amazed when I did it.
